Stylish and eyecatching packaging has its main impact at the point of sale, helping to leverage one brand above another and to stimulate increased impulse and planned purchases. The complexities of legal labelling requirements, user instructions, bar codes and other minutiae continue to make pack design even more of a challenge, but working within those disciplines is where we excel.
DGC can provide an ongoing design service at a competitive monthly rate or undertake a one-off project for a new range or product facelift. Our lead designer has created packaging for virtually every major UK supermarket, as well as private label producers, so has a wealth of knowledge about colours, typography, photography, image sourcing and legal necessities. We're also highly adept at recreating bottles, cans, jars, trigger sprays, aerosols and other containers on screen, so you can see exactly what the design looks like on the finished product.
Design exercises usually start with a client brief about the product, its intended market, price point, chosen packaging and range variants. We produce some initial design treatments to choose from, then refine the selected idea, develop the remainder of the range, if any, and input the text for side panels and back labels, editing as necessary. Finished artwork is next submitted for approval in pdf and hard copy formats, before it's transmitted to the nominated printer or repro house. We've applied those skills and disciplines to giant boxes, small retail and gift packs, container labels and more, we can apply them to your products too.
As an adjunct to pack design, we can also create exciting on-pack promotions and competitions, developing the concept, determining the vehicle, producing the layout and copy, even sorting out terms & conditions and other legalities.
